Engage wins two Agency of the Year titles at the UK Agency Awards

Maggi has been making everyday meals quicker and more flavoursome for well over a century. But the UK launch of its new Korean noodle range, debuting as a Morrisons exclusive before expanding nationwide, called for a completely different kind of creative energy.
They brought us in as the lead creative agency to define the creative direction for the range, shape the overarching launch campaign, and stretch it from social feeds into the real world.
The result was Flavour City. A colourful, character-led world inspired by K-drama, K-pop, anime and the gloriously chaotic corners of internet culture.
Subtle? Not especially. Memorable? Very.
Maggi knows noodles. But gaining market share in the Korean noodle category meant competing with culturally established brands, and winning over a Gen-Z audience fluent in the wider codes of K-culture and quick to spot when something feels forced.
Our challenge was threefold: cut through a fiercely competitive category, show up authentically for K-culture fans, and keep the work recognisably Maggi from screen to shelf.
The campaign concept came from a simple observation: people aren’t bored of food. They’re bored of repetition. Jam on toast, meal-deal lunches and beige dinners.
We coined a term for it: flavour fatigue.
And from there, Flavour City was born: a campaign world where dull, desaturated everyday moments transform the second Maggi Korean Noodles enter the scene, cranking the colour, energy and drama straight up to volume 11.
That gave the campaign a simple 3-step storytelling mechanic across every channel:
A campaign world this bold needed characters to match. So we gave each new flavour its own K-culture-inspired personality.
We then built a clear set of creative rules for how each character should look, speak and show up across the wider campaign.
With the creative platform in place, we developed two core creative pillars for social:
Across both routes, we creatively directed and produced Reels, reactive content, custom motion designs, static graphics, and a full-length launch video in-house.
For the launch, Maggi took over a London Soho storefront with a four-day pop-up activation, bringing the range to life through influencer appearances, street sampling, K-pop random dance sessions, photo booths, and exclusive merchandise.
Because Flavour City had been designed to travel, it translated naturally into the physical space, from the characters and visual language through to OOH displays and supporting materials.
The activation carried the exact same energy, tone, and personalities people had already fallen in love with online.
By any measure, the Maggi Korean noodle launch was a standout success.
Rather than relying on trend-jacking or safe recipe content, Maggi now has a proven blueprint for entering new categories, building digital fandom, and driving retail growth, both on and offline.
