Responsibilities

Project management

  • Lead end-to-end delivery from discovery and definition through to launch and handover, creating and maintaining robust plans (timelines, milestones, critical path, tasks, owners).
  • Own delivery governance across complex, multi-workstream projects, including RAID, dependencies, decision logs, and release planning.
  • Manage scope, budget, forecasting and change control, ensuring changes are documented, costed, agreed, and communicated with clear trade-offs.
  • Partner closely with technical leads to shape delivery approach and non-functional requirements (security, performance, accessibility), and translate technical constraints into clear plans and comms.
  • Coordinate internal teams, clients, and third parties such as platform vendors, integration partners, data providers, branding agencies, accessibility specialists, and client-side IT or security stakeholders.
  • Run clear and consistent project communications, ensuring documentation, decisions and updates are captured and shared in the right places, with the right people.
  • Produce high-quality reporting and status updates, tailored to the audience, keeping stakeholders aligned on progress, risks, blockers, and next steps.
  • Monitor team progress and actively remove blockers, keeping delivery calm and solutions-focused through ambiguity and pressure.
  • Own quality through the lifecycle, ensuring appropriate review and testing before client-facing releases, and coordinating bug triage, fixes, and validation against requirements.
  • Lead content-heavy delivery where required, including content discovery and auditing, information architecture and taxonomy collaboration, content modelling inputs, governance and approvals, and migration planning.
  • Ensure effective handover, documentation and training so clients can confidently manage and maintain their platform and content post-launch.

Communication

  • Lead clear, consistent communication across clients, internal stakeholders, and third parties, ensuring the right people have the right information at the right time.
  • Build trusted client relationships through proactive, regular contact, adapting style and detail to suit different audiences (delivery teams, senior stakeholders, technical leads).
  • Own how communication lands with stakeholders, using calm, confident framing, especially when navigating risk, uncertainty, or change.
  • Manage project communication channels, keeping documentation, decisions, and actions visible and well organised.
  • Escalate issues early with context, options, and recommendations, leading conversations that protect outcomes and manage expectations.
  • Lead difficult conversations with empathy and clarity, de-escalating tension and keeping discussions solutions-focused under pressure.

Project governance

  • Plan and manage schedules across your projects, scoping and assigning tasks, monitoring deadlines, and maintaining clear ownership across teams.
  • Manage resourcing in our scheduling software, ensuring work is accurately booked, properly briefed, and sequenced at the right time.
  • Protect team focus and delivery momentum by actively managing scope, priorities, and stakeholder noise.
  • Prepare estimates for new work and additional requirements, ensuring assumptions, scope and risks are clear.
  • Own account commercials day to day: keep forecasts up to date, monitor budget burn and margin, and maintain visibility of account health, escalating risks early.
  • Ensure timely invoicing aligned to milestones and deliverables, and keep commercial admin accurate and up to date.
  • Run change control clearly and commercially, documenting and communicating impacts on time, cost, scope, and capacity.
  • Maintain internal reporting hygiene: keep project status, risks, blockers and next steps current, and ensure resourcing and forecasting data is accurate ahead of weekly and monthly meetings.

Competencies

Experience

You have a proven history of leading complex digital projects from discovery and definition through to launch and handover. You’re confident driving progress across multiple workstreams, leading cross-functional teams, and guiding clients through high-stakes delivery, including integration-heavy platforms, logged-in experiences, ecommerce and payments, complex CMS builds, and content-rich website rebuilds with large content estates.

You also have demonstrable experience of:

  • Leading multi-workstream projects end to end, including discovery, definition, delivery planning, governance, and release management (RAID, dependencies, decision logs, critical path).
  • Owning client relationships at a senior level, managing expectations, leading difficult conversations, and keeping delivery calm and solutions-focused under pressure.
  • Coordinating internal teams, client-side stakeholders, and third parties such as platform vendors, integration partners, data providers, branding agencies, accessibility specialists, and client-side IT or security teams.
  • Delivering technical complexity, for example API integrations, privacy and data handling, authentication/log-in journeys, data flows, and ecommerce or payment-related functionality, working closely with technical leads to translate constraints into plans and comms.
  • Managing non-functional requirements and quality, including security considerations, performance, accessibility, QA planning, and supporting bug triage through to resolution.
  • Leading content-heavy rebuilds, including content discovery and auditing, information architecture and taxonomy collaboration, content governance and approvals, and migration planning.
  • Owning commercials across accounts, including estimating, forecasting, invoicing milestones, budget burn, and profitability, with clear, well-run change control.
  • Planning and managing resourcing using scheduling tools, ensuring work is properly scoped, briefed, sequenced, and protected from priority noise.
  • Working confidently across different delivery approaches, selecting and applying the right method for the work and client context (waterfall, agile, phased delivery, parallel workstreams).
  • Line management or people leadership experience, including coaching, feedback, performance support, and developing others.
  • Experience working on projects in the 2,000 to 3,000+ hour range.

Ownership

You take ownership of outcomes and lead from the front. You anticipate issues early, bring options and recommendations, and keep momentum through ambiguity. You follow through consistently, protect focus, and take responsibility for resolving problems rather than amplifying them.

Communication and leadership

You communicate with calm clarity, especially under pressure. You take ownership of how your communication lands, adapting tone and framing to the audience and situation. You build trusted relationships with clients, internal stakeholders, and third parties, and you can confidently lead complex conversations on scope, risk, budget, and trade-offs.

You escalate issues early and professionally, bringing context, impact, and solutions, not noise. You can de-escalate tension, keep discussions productive, and protect team morale and psychological safety on high-stakes delivery. You actively seek feedback, look for patterns over time, and demonstrate adjustments in your approach.

Planning and prioritisation

You’re highly organised and able to manage competing priorities across multiple workstreams. You keep the bigger picture in view, plan effectively around dependencies and constraints, and adjust plans with confidence and care. You maintain clarity on ownership, next steps, and critical path, and you protect delivery from avoidable disruption and stakeholder noise.

Delivery quality and technical confidence

You maintain a high standard across deliverables and ensure the right level of review and testing before work goes client-facing. You’re confident working with digital teams and technical concepts, and you can translate complexity into clear plans, risks and decisions so delivery stays calm and predictable.

You’re comfortable leading projects involving integrations and third-party dependencies (including coordinating vendors and responsibilities), authentication and account journeys (including MFA and user states), ecommerce and payment flows, and data-driven functionality connected to back-end systems. You work closely with technical leads to shape delivery approach, environments and release planning, and you consistently factor in non-functional requirements such as accessibility, performance, security and privacy. You don’t need to be a developer, but you ask the right questions early, clarify ownership, and help teams and stakeholders make informed trade-offs.
